8 Grocery Store App Coupons and Promos You Must Use (2023)

If you want to save big, check out these grocery store app coupons. The apps I’ve listed either provide manufacturer coupons, promo codes, and/or store specific coupons that you won’t find anywhere but in each grocery store app. You can get coupons or promos right on your smartphone that can either be applied to your mobile cart or used for in-store shopping.

While some stores allow stacking, others don’t, but still have valuable coupons that make it worth downloading the app. Here’s a look at what you can expect with each one.

1. Get Circle offers and save 1% with the Target app.

The Target app is really generous with in-app savings called “Circle Offers.” Also, the Target app gets you 1% off everything you buy every time. Link the app with your Target RedCard and bump that up to 5% off every purchase instead. With Target’s Circle app, you can stack savings using both manufacturer coupons and Circle offers.

For example: Target ran their free $10 Target gift card when you buy $30 or more of laundry detergent, plus they offered a $2 off coupon for a 48-count of Gain Flings in the Circle app (valid in store only), which could be used up to four times in a single transaction.

Buy 4 Gain Flings 48-count (reg. $11.19 each)
Use 4 $2 off Gain Flings mfr. coupons
Get 5% off with RedCard
Total $34.92 (over 20% savings)
Receive one $10 gift card when you spend $30 on laundry
Final Price: $24.92 ($20 savings!)

2. Stack and save with special in-app coupons at Dollar General.

The Dollar General app releases one-day coupons in their “Coupon Weekly” tab. (The app also has digital manufacturer coupons, but these aren’t exclusive to the app.)

Dollar General also lets you stack one manufacturer coupon with one Dollar General coupon, as long as neither says that it’s not valid with other coupons. Any overage is applied to the balance of your transaction.

Look for one-day-only coupons in the coupon weekly in the DG app like:

• $5 off a $25 purchase (Dollar General coupon)

3. Save in store only with the Family Dollar app coupons.

Family Dollar releases generous storewide savings coupons regularly in their app, and they give users special coupons when they sign up for an account.

You can stack one manufacturer coupon and one Family Dollar coupon (digital or paper) on one regular-priced, sale priced, or clearance item in a transaction. Family Dollar doesn’t accept coupons that have a face value greater than the retail price of the item.

Look to save with exclusive coupons in the Family Dollar app:

• Unlock a coupon just for downloading and setting up your account. I received $2 off one bottle of Advil Migraine or Advil PM (20-count or higher).
• I also received a Family Dollar Smart coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase.

While you can save with these coupons in the store, you can’t shop or even view prices in the app. It’s kind of odd that they haven’t connected the technical dots here, so this app isn’t as functional as the other stores on this list. Still, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the coupons.

4. Earn 5% cash back and promo codes using the Walmart app.

The Walmart app doesn’t give you any special store-wide coupons, as we all know Walmart is stingy with coupons, period. But, the app makes it super easy to shop online for grocery delivery or pickup. And, if you refer a friend to download the app, you get dollar-off order promo codes. Here are some incentives I’ve found in the Walmart app:

• Earn $10 off an order ($50 min.) when you share Walmart Grocery app with a friend, who also gets $10 off their first order.
• Link your Walmart Rewards Mastercard or Walmart Rewards card to your Walmart Grocery app account, and you will automatically earn 5% cash back when you pay with either card.

5. Save 60% or more with CVS app coupons.

The CVS app has a ton of promos and coupons that you would miss out on completely if you didn’t have it. Plus, the app keeps track of all your coupons in one place. As an added bonus, CVS will allow you to stack multiple manufacturer coupons, CVS coupons, and offers on sale items.

I saved $28 (about 60%) with these CVS app coupon deals and sales:

6. Stack everything to save money with the Walgreens app.

Walgreens offers manufacturer coupons in the app that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Just like CVS, Walgreens allows stacking with manufacturer coupons, store offers, and reward points.

Here’s how I saved $30 using the Walgreens app:

Buy two BOGO 50% off Olay Premium Bath products (reg. 10.99 each) Sale $16.49
Use $3 off one Olay Premium Bath product
Buy two Herbal Essence bio:renew hair products (reg. $5.99 each) 2/$10
Use $3 off two Herbal Essences bio:renew hair products

Buy three Pantene Hair Care products (reg. $3.99 each)
Use $4 off three Pantene products
Buy two Secret deodorants (reg. $4.99 each)

Buy one 6-count pack of Venus razors (reg. $17.50)
Use $4 off one Venus Disposable razors 4-count or higher
Earned 5,000 points for $50 Beauty Enthusiast purchase ($5)
Earned 3,000 bonus points for $15 purchase ($3)

7. Get personalized Best-Customer Bonus coupons with the Kroger app.

The Kroger app is awesome for shopping online for curbside pickup or grocery delivery. You can do everything out of the app. Although Kroger doesn’t allow stacking, they offer lots of money-saving coupons, such as personalized Best-Customer Bonus coupons that you could use on top of weekly sale prices.

About every other Friday, Kroger releases a digital offer in their app for a totally free product. The offer is available to download to your card for one day only, but it doesn’t expire for two weeks.

All the coupons in the Kroger app are store coupons. Here are some of my recent Best-Customer Bonus coupons:

$1.50/1 Philadelphia Soft Cream Cheese 7 – 8 ounces
$2/1 Private Selection Frozen Beef Patties 24 – 32 ounces any variety
$1/4 Knorr Sides
$2/4 Chobani Yogurt or Flip Greek Yogurt 5.3 ounces

8. Get BOGO deals and promo codes in the Safeway/Albertsons app.

I use Safeway and Albertsons apps interchangeably, because they’re owned by the same company and their apps are identical. One of the best things about the Safeway and Albertsons Just for U program is that it gives you personalized deals and coupons based on your order history. Just for U coupons are digital coupons available on the Alberstons.com or Safeway.com websites, or in the apps.

Special in-app-only offers include promo codes and the Deals page in the apps.

Here’s an example of a recent BOGO in Deals:

I found some promo codes that can be used online at checkout with either app. You can use one promo code per order:

• TWENTYOFF4 gets you $20 off an order of $75 or more.
• SAVE20 will get you $20 off $75 as well — plus a waived delivery fee (exact fee varies) if you decide to go that route instead of pickup.
